What makes the Flat Iron Hotel unique?
The Flat Iron Hotel is a 100-year-old iconic former office building, reborn as the peak of relaxation, dining, drinks, and hospitality in downtown Asheville. The full Flat Iron Hotel experience includes:
- Complimentary prosecco or pilsner at check-in
- A ride up to your room on a restored hand-operated elevator from 1926
- A luxurious stay in one of 71 former offices, reimagined in a style we call “Appalachian Deco”, with highly comfortable beds, beautiful wood and chrome finishes, and shower pressure to write home about…
- …on in-room postcards, which can be dropped down our antique chute and mailed
- A beverage + treat station on every guest floor, with complimentary coffee, tea, cider, and other delights
- A few trips to the Flat Iron Rooftop — in the evening for views and drinks, and again in the morning for a cozy caffé
- Dining at Luminosa, the city-beloved restaurant where Italian tradition meets wood-fired Appalachian flavor, helmed by Executive Chef Graham House and Chef de Cuisine Sean McMullen
- A descent to the swanky speakeasy, Red Ribbon Society, for Prohibition-era cocktails with local flair
- Historical and artful touches throughout, like antique signage in the halls for actual businesses from the building’s past
When did the Flat Iron Hotel open?
In its former life, the building first took occupants in 1926. After a thorough five-year restoration process, the Flat Iron Hotel opened for guests and diners in May 2024.
What sustainability practices does the hotel follow?
We are a house of taste, and the use of hyperlocal, hyperseasonal ingredients is key to the experience. Nearly every flavor in Luminosa, the Flat Iron Rooftop, and Red Ribbon Society comes from within 50 miles of the hotel, through long-forged friendships and partnerships with local growers and ranchers. We follow traditional Appalachian practices of recycling and reuse; for example, vegetable trims from one dish may be pickled for another, or used as the garnish for a delicious cocktail.
